Norfolk Virginian December 27, 1876  

The death of Mrs. Mary L. Barraud was a great surprise to many of her friends, 
although she had passed the limit of three score years and ten, yet she was 
possessed of a vigorous constitution which gave promise that she might live many 
years longer. Her kindliness of disposition and her many acts of unobtrusive 
charity had endeared her to many beyond her own circle of acquaintances and her 
death will be mourned by many who have been in times gone by the recipient of 
her benevolence.

Mrs. MARY L. BARRAUD, aged 79 years
Her funeral will take place from her late residence corner of Washington and 
Granby Streets, TODAY at 1 o'clock p.m.
