 Norfolk Virginian Pilot Saturday December 11, 1948
 Mrs. Mary S. Barrett, 76, widow of Clarence M. Barrett and daughter of 
Captain Neil and Mrs. Susan Moore McCarty, died at a Norfolk hospital 
yesterday at 5:30 p.m.
Mrs. Barrett was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, residing at 5401 Walton 
Avenue at the time of her death.
She is survived by one son, Clarence S. Barrett; one daughter, Mrs. Claude 
D. Shaffer, both of Norfolk; five grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. C.C. 
Bright, of Norfolk.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Blessed 
Sacrament Catholic Church, of which Mrs. Barrett was a member, for services 
Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Rosary services will 
be held at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 8 p.m.
