Barrett, died at her residence, 722 Mariner street, Norfolk, Saturday, April 4, at 11:35 p.m. She was born in Southampton County VA, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Everett. She was a faithful member of the Antioch Baptist Church for over 25 years, serving as vice president of the deaconess board; secretary, missionary society; secretary, the senior choir; teacher of the Sunday school and member of the Pastor’s Aid Club of the church. Surviving are two sons, James A. Barrett, New York City, NY and Richard Barrett Jr., of Norfolk; two daughters, Miss Frances Barrett and Miss Dorothy Mae Barrett, of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Elaine, Malcolm, Patricia and Melvin Barrett; one sister, Miss Virgie Everett, Williamsburg, MD; one brother, Horace Everett, of Waverly, VA; two aunts, Mrs. Moriah Mason and Mrs. Hattie Keys of Waverly, VA, several cousins and other relatives. The funeral service was held Sunday, April 12, at Antioch Baptist Church with the minister, the Rev. J. W. Matthews, officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with the Morning Glory Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
