Barron, died at St. Vincent's Hospital yesterday, after an illness of about a week. He was stricken with typhoid fever and speedily succumbed to the disease despite skillful medical treatment and the most careful and competent attention at the hospital. Mr. Barron had for several years been associated with his father in the printing and book-bindery business. He was also thoroughly acquainted with Norfolk and Virginia commercial affairs and was local correspondent for several newspapers which publish complete trade and market reports. At the time of his death Mr. Barron was commercial reporter for the Virginian Pilot and the Norfolk Journal of Commerce. The deceased was extremely popular in Norfolk society and in athletic circles he figured to a conspicuous degree. He was an ardent outdoor sportsman. At William and Mary College, where he graduated, he was captain of the football team and since leaving college Mr. Barron has played an important part in the athletic life of Norfolk and vicinity. He was a member of the Hampton Roads Yacht Club, the Norfolk Boat Club, the Country Club, the Gunners' Association, the Greenway Tennis Club, and other organizations. He took part in the Country Club's state championship tennis tournament here a few weeks ago and played a splendid game. Mr. Barron was a grandson of the late Commodore Samuel Barron and a grandson of Captain Boutelle, late of the United States Coast Survey Service. The young man is survived by his father only. He was an only child and his mother died some years ago. Mr. Barron leaves behind him a large number of very warm friends in Norfolk and elsewhere to mourn his untimely taking away. He was a jolly, good fellow, a true-blue sportsman and a perfect gentleman. Among ladies he was affable and decorous, among men social and courteous. A man of young Barron's worth can be truly appreciated only by those who had the good fortune to enjoy an intimate and close companionship with him. He was a generous, golden-hearted fellow and his death will cause wounds that will take a long to heal. The funeral services over the remains of the late Mr. Barron will be held at Christ Church this afternoon at 6 o'clock.
