Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark July 13, 1923

Mrs. Mattie C. Barry, wife of Charles T. Barry, died at the residence, 23 Elm 
Place, Berkley Ward, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, aged 72 years.  She was a 
native of Petersburg and had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 54 years.  
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Grace Barry Wise, of 
Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Charles L. Barry, of Norfolk; two grandchildren, Mrs. 
Harry R. Pride and Stanley R. Wise, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, 
Henry A. Totty, of Norfolk and J.R. Totty, of Eastern Shore, Va., and a sister, 
Mrs. Charles Frosst, of Toronto, Canada.  She was a member of St. Paul's Church, 
Berkley.  Funeral services will be held at the residence tomorrow morning at 10 
o'clock, the Rev. Wm. Byrd Lee officiating.  Burial will be in Magnolia 
Cemetery.
