Virginian-Pilot June 5, 1929
Mrs. Esther Dorset Barry, aged 35, wife of James Edward Barry and daughter of 
the late Dr. William E. and Mittie Whitney Dorset, and granddaughter of the late 
Dr. Thomas B. and Mittie Whitney Dorset, of Richmond and Chesterfield County, 
died at 5:20 o’clock yesterday morning at the residence, 9 1/2 stop, Willoughby 
Beach. She was a native of Richmond and had been a resident of Norfolk for 16 
years. Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Dorothy Whitney, 
Esther Dorset and James Edward Barry, Jr., and one sister, Mrs. Arthur W. 
Addison, all of Norfolk, and one brother, W. E. Dorset, of Portsmouth.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, 
Thursday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
