NORFOLK — Francis Vincent Bartol Sr., 53, of 554 Thole St., Norfolk area 
operations manager for Southern Materials Corp., died Monday in a hospital.

A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was the husband of Mrs. Helen Styron Bartol and 
a son of the late Rudolph John and Mrs. Janie Parr Bartol.

He had been with Southern Materials 26 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament 
Catholic Church.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marshall B. Lant and Miss 
Susan Dianne Bartol; a son, Francis V. Bartol Jr.; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy B. 
Burlage; and two brothers, Rudolph John Bartol Jr. and Joseph E. Bartol, all of 
Norfolk; and a grandson.

A Requiem Mass will be said in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Wednesday at 10 
a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

The Office of the Dead will be said in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 
7:30.
