Virginian-Pilot  October 14, 1947
John Asard Bashara, 60, a native of Syria and a resident of this section for the 
past 50 years, died at a local hospital yesterday at 4:45 p.m. Surviving are one 
son, Herbert Bashara; and a granddaughter, Sylvia Jean Bashara, both of Norfolk. 
The body will be taken from his residence, 1079 West Forty-second Street, to 
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, of which Mr. Bashara was a member, for services 
tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Rosary services will 
be held at the residence this evening at 8:30 o'clock.
