The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Friday October 1, 1937
William Jordan Basnight, aged 89, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. B.
Creef, 815 D street, South Norfolk, yesterday morning at 1:45 o'clock after a
long illness. He was a native of Dare County, NC, and had made his home in this
section 19 years. He was the son of James and Clarissa Creef Basnight and
husband of Babra Duval Basnight. He is survived by five sons, S. C. Basnight,
Mashoes,NC; W. P. Basnight, Manteo, NC; Robert Basnight, Norfolk County; L. S.
Basnight, Moyock,NC, and W. A. Basnight, Norfolk, two daughters, Mrs. S. B.
Creef, South Norfolk, and Mrs. J.W. Meekins, Norfolk; 23 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. Mr. Basnight was a member of the East Lake Methodist Church.

The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, Jackson and Jefferson streets,
South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted this afternoon, at 4
o'clock. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
