RUSSELL W. BASNIGHT

William Basnight , 77, of the 5800 block of Pickering St., passed away April 5,
2004, in a local hospital.

He was born Nov. 6, 1926 in Columbia, N.C. Russell served two years in the U.S.
Army and received an honorable discharge. During his life he worked as a tailor
for 20 years with Inko Friedburg Tailoring, seven years with Navy Exchange, two
years at The Hub Mens Shop and 10 years with T.C. Williams Cleaners.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Elizabeth Basnight ; daughter, Karen
Basnight ; granddaughter, Kayla Cross, all of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Viola
Wilson and Ada Morris, both of East Orange, N.J.; and a host of other relatives
and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. today at the chapel of Metropolitan
Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk.
Family and friends will assemble at 5853 Pickering St., Virginia Beach, one hour
prior to service, for procession to the chapel. To send condolences and sign
