Virginian-Pilot February
The funeral of John Calvin Bass was held from the residence of his son-in-law, D. 
E. Etheridge, 235 North Reservoir avenue at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The 
service was conducted by Rev. R. J. Bateman of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist church, 
and Rev. R. N. Hartness of Trinity Methodist church. The interment was in Elmwood 
cemetery and the pallbearers were as follows: W. D. Baker, W. A. Church, N. A. 
Phelps, George L. Whitehurst, J. L. Joyner and Mr. Osborne.
