EZRA LEE BASSETT
Well known and former resident of Norfolk, but recently of Gloucester County, 
Va., died at Elizabeth Buxton Hospital, Newport News, Va., May 16, after a brief 
illness of pneumonia. He was 67 years of age. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. 
Jennie Ardell Bassett, and three sons and two daughters – William H., of 
Richmond, Va.; Raymond E., of Norfolk; Merton F., of Gloucester County, Va; Mrs. 
Marvin Roberts, of Norfolk; Miss Grace L. Bassett, of Gloucester County, Va.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Burrows Memorial 
Baptist Church, Rev. C. Hermon Trueblood, pastor, officiating.
Pallbearers were Rev. Willis Hutchings, Messrs. J. P. Abbitt, C. T. Saunders, 
Homer Kirby, S. G. Bishop, Edward Morse. There were many beautiful floral 
offerings. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
