 Norfolk Virginian Pilot Wednesday January 20, 1943
Charles E.G. Bassett, 81, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John W. Bassett, a 
native and former resident of Norfolk, and of recent years residing at 
Buffalo N.Y. and Birmingham, Ala., died Sunday at Birmingham.  Surviving him 
are two sons, Millson M. Bassett, of Birmingham and John V. Bassett, of 
Rutherford, N.J.; one brother, James G. Bassett, of New York; several 
grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two nephews.  Remains will be 
brought to Norfolk where services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. 
Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, tomorrow morning at 11 
o'clock, with the Rev. Moultrie Guerry, rector of Old St. Paul's Episcopal 
church, officiating.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery
