The Norfolk Virginian Pilot June 7, 1943
Mrs. Gladys Tisdale Bassett, aged 42, wife of J. Allen Bassett, and daughter of 
Mrs. Pattie C. Tisdale and the late Charles B. Tisdale, a lifelong resident of 
Norfolk, died at the residence, 332 Ward avenue, yesterday afternoon at 1:10 
o'clock.
Mrs. Bassett was a member of Virginia Chapter 22, Order of the Eastern Star. 
Besides her husband, J. Allen Bassett, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. 
A.L. Brown; her mother, Mrs. Pattie C. Tisdale, and a sister, Miss Louise 
Tisdale, all of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the 
Rev. Taylor Willis, D.D., rector of Christ and St. Luke's Church officiating. 
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
