NORFOLK - Jackie Batchelor of the 5600 block of Tidewater Drive answered the
Lord's call April 2, 2008. He was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine
Batchelor who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his
brother-in-law, Donald Bland and nephew, Santerio "Shawn" Bland.

"Jack" or "Mr. B," as he was affectionately known, was a community assistance
officer employed by Norfolk State University through Norfolk State Residence
Life at the Babette-Smith South Facility.

He was a genuine man who will be truly missed. He is survived by his best friend
and loving companion of 30 years, fiancee Joean Bland of the home; two
daughters, Taccarro "Puddin" Bland of Norfolk and stepdaughter, Tawanda
Bland-Mack (John) of Chesapeake; two sons, Jack Anthony Batchelor of Chicago and
Charles Bland of Virginia Beach; mother-in-law, Lucy Bland of Norfolk;
father-in-law, Walter Bland of Portsmouth; three sisters-in- law, Diana
Washington (Michael) of Virginia Beach, Barbara Savage (Larry) of Montgomery,
Ala., and Mary-Ann Bland of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law, Gary Bland of Virginia
Beach and Ralph Bland of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Dontrelle, Diamoneeke,
Daijon, De'Aizja, Charles Jr. and India; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Graves Funeral Home
with the Rev. Charles Springs Jr. officiating. Interment will be held in Calvary
Cemetery.
