The Virginian Pilot Monday June 19, 1978
Mrs. Annie W. Bateman, 87, of 1039 E. Ocean View Ave., the widow of Enoch 
Bateman, died Sunday in a hospital.
She was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C. and a Methodist.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Longest and Mrs. Bessie 
Owens of Norfolk, Mrs. Virginia Teston of Durham, N.C. and Mrs. Lillian 
Tishey of Sarver, Penn.; three sons, Robert Bateman and Charles R. Bateman 
of Norfolk and John Bateman of New Orleans; a sister, Mrs. Lillie Mae Rowell 
of Gig Harbor, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Tidewater Drive Chapel.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.  The family 
will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
