BATEMAN DIES SUDDENLY Thomas B. Bateman, a well-known citizen, 707 Berkley avenue, died yesterday morning after a brief illness. He was apparently in good health late Monday evening after working through the day. The deceased was born in Washington County, N.C. and was 60 years of age. He had been a resident of this place for the past ten years, during which time he won for himself many warm friends who regret his death. He was a consistent member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. E.D. Bateman, and was the son of the late Isaac B. and Mrs. Sallie Spruill Bateman. The funeral will take place from the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, and will be conducted by the Rev. W.A. Smith. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley. Mr. Bateman was a member of Berkley Ruling No. 1911 of the Fraternal Mystic Circle.
