Norfolk - Funeral services for Daniel D. Bates, who died November 29 at his 
residence, 807 Johnson avenue, were held December 1 at the B. F. King Funeral 
Parlors with the Rev. D. G. Jacox officiating. Miss N. V. Hughes read the 
family obituary and Mrs. Alice Cotton played the piano.

Mr. Bates, who had been in ill health for several months, was a retired 
employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad, which company he had served for 40 
years.
