Norfolk Journal and Guide, Feb 26,1955
Johnnie Bates, 1481 Proescher street, died Feb. 17, at Norfolk General 
Hospital.

Services were held at Riddick’s Funeral Chapel on Feb. 21, with the Rev. C. 
E. Griffin officiating.  Riddick’s Funeral Home was in charge of 
arrangements.

Mr. Bates is surived by a wife, Mrs. Bernice Bates;  father, John B. Bates, 
of Chicago;  and a sister.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
