Daniel Joseph “Dan” Batkin, Sr., 69, of Norfolk, passed away on April 5, 2017.
Born in Great Lakes, Illinois, on June 14, 1947, he was predeceased by his 
parents, Mae and Joe Batkin.
Dan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandy, two children, Daniel, Jr. and his 
wife, Jennifer, of Norfolk, and Ashley Batkin Costanza and her husband, Gregory, 
of Norfolk; one grandchild, Lindsay Batkin; and his brother, Howard Batkin and 
wife, Kathy, of Portsmouth, as well as uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and 
friends.
Dan was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a civil service jet 
mechanic at Naval Air Station Norfolk for 29 years. He was also a member of the 
Hampton Roads Metro Band, the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a 
proud supporter of Old Dominion University athletics.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 11 am, at Blessed Sacrament 
Catholic Church in Norfolk with Fr. Joseph Metzger presiding. Following the 
service, the family will receive guests at the home of Ronald and Evelyn Cooper, 
8802 Gramel Street, Norfolk.
In lieu of flowers, the Batkin family would request that donations be made to 
either the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, the Red Cross or the EVMS Strelitz 
Diabetes Center.
