Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, March 10, 1998 
Lee A. Batts Sr., 85, of the 2200 block of Lansing Ave., died March 8, 1998, at
Beverly Manor of Portsmouth.

Mr. Batts was a native of Norfolk and retired from the Norfolk and Southern
Railroad. He was a member of the Bachelor Benedict Club and the Tux Club for
more than 50 years. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Senior Golfers of
Virginia. Mr. Batts was a devoted member of Fellowship United Church of Christ,
where he was chairman of the board of trustees for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Newbie Batts; a son and daughter-in-law, Lee A.
Batts Jr. and Zelda W. Batts of Fairfax, Va.; two grandsons and their wives,
Patrick A. and Jesselyn W. Batts and Lee M. and Iris S. Batts, all of Fairfax; a
granddaughter, Leigh M. Batts of Fairfax, and a great-grandson, Cedric Watson.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at Fellowship United Church of
Christ, 1402 Gust Lane, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Winston E. Waugh. Burial will be
in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the church.
