Alliance, telegraphs the Navy Department, under date of St. Johns, August 6th as follows: “Paymaster Geo. E. Baughman died at sea of apoplexy on the 4th. Touched here to land remains.” Paymaster Baughman was very well-known here. He lived in Norfolk, having married a daughter of Wm. T. Harrison, Esq. He was born in Virginia, and appointed Assistant Paymaster in the Navy from Pennsylvania, his residence in July, 1870. His present commission as Passed Assistant Paymaster is dated March 1879. The remains are now en route to Norfolk from St. John’s. The remains of Paymaster GEORGE E. BAUGHMAN, U.S. Navy, will be removed from the ship to the Boston wharf TUESDAY, 22d, at 11 o’clock a.m., and followed by Masons and friends of the family carried direct to Elmwood Cemetery.
