Baum, a local policeman, who died Saturday night while on his beat, will take place Tuesday at noon from the residence, 1713 Llewellyn Avenue, and will be conducted by Rev. Sparks W. Melton, pastor of the Freemason Street Baptist Church. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Baum is survived by one son, William J. Baum of Norfolk, four daughters, Misses Minnie P. and Floy M. Baum and Mrs. F.M. Smith, Jr., of Norfolk and Mrs. John T. Allen of Portland, Oregon; four brothers, E.M. Baum of Norfolk, A.O., Dr. Orion Baum and L.P. Baum of Princess Anne County; four sisters, Mrs. W.W. Cox, Mrs. I.B. Baxter of Princess Anne County, Mrs. Julian Baum of Poplar Branch, N.C. and Mrs. S.C. Brock of Los Angeles, Cal. Mr. Baum was 65 years old. He had been on the police force about twelve years. Mr. Baum has been in failing health since the sudden death of his wife, two years ago. He was born in Princess Anne County and has lived in Norfolk about forty years. He was at one time in the grocery business.
