Baum Dead On Falling Down Stairs Joseph D. (Doc) Baum, 53, of 717 Colonial Avenue, fell down the stairs of his home yesterday afternoon and was dead when two other residents of the house reached him. He was on his way to his room, these witnesses said. Exact cause of death had not yet been determined last night, according to a report by Detective Sgt. L.L. Jones, who investigated. A resident of Norfolk for 30 years and a World War I veteran, Baum is survived by a half sister, Mrs. Mary Upton, of Norfolk and two half brothers, John B. and Peter V. Knight, both of Norfolk. His body was taken to the James V. Derry Funeral Home. ***************************************************************************** Joseph D. Baum — Funeral services for Joseph D. Baum, who died Sunday after a fall in his home, were conducted yesterday at 11 a. m. at the James V. Derry Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Fr. E. W. Johnston, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Pallbearers were N. W. Layne, Lewis Conleto, Lewis Chesler, Moe Coplan, W. B. Swindell and George Ould. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
