Mr. Baxter was a native of Giles County, and a resident of Norfolk for the past 53 years, residing at 1530 West Thirty- eighth Street at the time of his death. For 50 years, and until his recent retirement, Mr. Baxter was an employee of the Norfolk & Western Railway. He was a member of Zion Methodist Church, and Norfolk Lodge No. 99, I.O.O.F. Besides his wife, Mrs. Fannie Orgain Baxter, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. R.B. Marye of Shawsville; Mrs. W.A. Dunn and Mrs. T.J. Nottingham, Jr., both of Norfolk; three sons, Charles Ray, Thomas Lewis, and William Baxter, all of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren, two sisters, Miss Florence Baxter and Mrs. Annie Henritze, both of Polaski. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. George W.M. Taylor, pastor of Zion Methodist Church, officiating.
