Norfolk Virginian October 27,1887  

The funeral of Mrs. B.F. Baxter will take place from Christ Episcopal Church 
this morning at 11 o'clock and will be attended by the ladies of the Woman's 
Christian Association, of which she was a most devout worker.

The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Frances Baxter, the beloved wife of our esteemed 
citizen, Mr. B.F. Baxter and daughter of Mrs. A.L. Hill, took place from 
Christ's P.E. Church at 11 o'clock yesterday morning and was largely attended.
It may be truly said that the deceased lady was widely known by the many acts of 
charity she performed. No weather deterred her from visiting the sick poor, and 
no night so wild as to cause her to fail to respond to a cry of distress. She 
was alike gentle in mansion and cabin, and the members of the Woman's Christian 
Association who knew her zeal in the Master's cause, testified to her worth by 
attending her funeral in a body despite the marked inclemency of the weather. 
The services were conducted by the Rev. Dr. O.S. Bartan, assisted by the Rev. R. 
Beagen. The remains were interred in Elmwood Cemetery.
The following gentlemen were the pallbearers - Messrs. F.S. Taylor, C.H. 
Johnson, W.T. Walke, Sr., T.A. Jones, Henry Walke, Captain H.B. Nichols, Norman 
Bell and Frank Vaughan. A worthy lady has gone to receive her reward.
