Marion Baxter, 70, also known as Rock and Smiley, of the 800 block of W. 35th 
St., a laborer, died March 27, 1994, in Hillhaven Rehabilitation Nursing 
Center. 
Mr. Baxter was born in Springfield, S.C. He was a member of Mason Memorial 
Church of God in Christ. 
Survivors include three sisters, Martha B. Boyce of Columbia, S.C., Mary B. 
Johnson of Long Island City, N.Y., and Ethel B. Griffin of St. Port Joe, Fla.; 
one brother, George W. Baxter Jr. of Columbia, S.C.; an aunt, Mrs. Margaret C. 
Dowling of Norfolk, with whom he resided; and a host of cousins and friends. 
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Mason Memorial Church of God 
in Christ, Norfolk, by the Rev. David Williams. Burial will be in Magnolia 
Cemetery. The family will be at 826 W. 35th St. and will assemble there at 
12:30 p.m. for the processional to the church. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. 
today in Twilight Funeral Home, where a wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. 
today.
