NORFOLK — Mrs. Anna LaZella (Zella) Beard, 81, the widow of Frank Adkins Beard, 
died in a Portsmouth hospital Saturday night.
A native of Edenton, N.C., she lived in the Norfolk area 70 years, lately with a 
daughter, Mrs. Louis E. (Audrey Beard) Fatos of 3848 Wayne Circle, Norfolk.
She was a daughter of John and Mrs. Elizabeth West Hubbell. She was a member of 
Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Norfolk.
Besides Mrs. Falos, surviving are another daughter, Mrs. W. C. (Beatrice) 
Aughtry of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons; Milton B. (Duke) Beard of Norfolk and 
Frank L. Beard of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren; and five great-
grandchildren.
The body will be taken from Smith & Williams Funeral Home to Episcopal Church of 
the Epiphany for a funeral service Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. S. W. Easty 
Jr. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Epiphany Memorial Fund or 
the Boys Home in Covington, Va.
