M. Sharlene Beard, beloved sister, 64, a retired Office Manager/Bookkeeper for 
the Virginia Beach City Public Schools with over 31 years of service, died July 
12, 2017, in a local hospital. Sharlene was born in Norfolk to the late Charles 
W. Beard, Jr., and Mary Elizabeth Edmonds Beard. She was also predeceased by her 
brother, Charles W. Beard, III. She was a charter member of Bow Creek 
Presbyterian Church and a member of the Virginia Beach Genealogical Society. 
Survivors include sister, Sharon E. Beard of Virginia Beach. She also leaves 
behind the loves of her life, Sugar, Cookie, and Peanut. The graveside service 
will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at Elmwood Cemetery, 
Norfolk. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. 
Donations may be made to Plaza Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2128, Virginia 
Beach, VA 23452 in memory of Sharlene. Condolences may be offered to the family
