 VIRGINIA BEACH - Charles Wingo Beard III, 58, died Dec. 9, 2006, in Fort 
Mill, S.C. He was employed by The Plaza Hotel on Carowinds as the security and 
maintenance engineer. 
Charlie was a native of Norfolk, born April 26, 1948. He was predeceased by 
his parents, Charles W. Beard Jr. and Mary E. Beard; his grandparents, Charles 
and Annie Beard and John and Bessie Edmonds. He was a former Virginia Beach 
City police dispatcher and former member of Plaza Volunteer and Rescue 
Services. Charles Beard served in the U.S. Navy. 
Survivors include two sisters, Sharon Elizabeth Beard and Mary Sharlene Beard, 
both of Virginia Beach. 
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery, 
Norfolk, with military honors. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, 
is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Plaza Volunteer 
Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2128, Virginia Beach, VA 23450. Condolences may be
