Virginian-Pilot June 23, 1923
John C. Beasley, the sixteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beasley, died 
yesterday afternoon at 5:45 o’clock at a local hospital, after an illness of two 
weeks. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Miss Madge Beasley and 
Miss Winnie May Beasley; grandfather, John W. Cherry; three aunts, Mrs. Hugh 
Clement; Mrs. Tom White, of Edenton, N.C., and Mrs. H. E. Wolfe, of Williamson, 
N.C.; four uncles, J. Fred and Harry H. Cherry; Hobert C. Beasley, of Hampton; and 
W. C. Beasley of Vancouver, Wash. Funeral services will take place at the 
residence, 334 West Twelfth street, Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Burial will be 
in Elmwood Cemetery.

Additional Comments:
The newspaper obituary and his death certificate both show his date of death as 
June 22, but his tombstone shows June 23.
