Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - January 27, 2001
Gertie Mae Beasley, 83, of the 1100 block of Hazel Ave., died Jan. 25, 2001, in 
a Chesapeake hospital. 
A native of Suffolk, she was the widow of Roland W. Beasley and a member of 
Laurel Avenue Church of Christ. 
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley J. Caleo of Nags Head, N.C., and Brenda 
D. Campen and her husband, William, of Chesapeake; a son, Roland S. Beasley and 
his wife, Barbara C., of Chesapeake; two sisters, Anne Harcum of Virginia Beach 
and Lenore Fulcher of Reidsville, Va.; a brother, Bennie Ellis of Reidsville; 10 
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was 
predeceased by a son, James W. Beasley.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Laurel Avenue Church of Christ with the 
Rev. Joe Huxford and the Rev. Rupert Wallace officiating. Burial will be in 
Riverside Memorial Gardens. Family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Indian River Chapel, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
