Virginian Pilot November 20, 1908

Mrs. Julia Hogwood Beck, wife of Otto Beck, of this city, who had been under 
treatment at St. Vincent's Hospital, died at that institution yesterday morning 
at 5:30 o'clock in the 30th year of her age.
Besides her husband she is survived by four children and three sisters: Mrs. 
John Allen, Miss Rosa Hogwood and Miss Lizzie Hogwood, all of Norfolk.
The deceased was the daughter of the late Captain and Mrs. George Hogwood. She 
was born in Norfolk, where she spent her entire life. The funeral will be held 
Sunday afternoon.

The funeral of Mrs. Julia Hogwood Beck, wife of Otto Beck, was held from the 
Frist Presbyterian Church  at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon and was numerously 
attended.  The service was conducted by Rev. Dr. Joseph Rennie, pastor of the 
church. There was a profusion of lovely floral tributes. The remains were laid 
to rest in Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: Mr. Cuthriell, Mr. 
Roane, William Farrar, Joe Graham, John R. Jordan, Paul C. Degge, H. Randolph 
and J.R. Lyle.
