Joseph C. Beck, 88, died June 27, 1999, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Beck was a native of Norfolk and was the son of the late Roxanna Fox Beck and
William Wesley Beck.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Contrado Beck of Norfolk; his sister, Nellie Mae
Beck Turner of Norfolk; his brother, Raymond Dewey Beck of Holland, Va. Mr. Beck was
preceded in death by his three sisters, Bessie Van Hoy, Essie B. Pitchford, Emma B.
Fentress, and six brothers William McKinley Beck, Nathan Merrill Beck Sr., James
Maddrey Beck, George Harold Beck, Ralph Samuel Beck and Warren Harding Beck.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery,
Norfolk, by Father Brian Rafferty. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening
from 7 to 8 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel.
