Mrs. Beck was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was employed with the Virginia Club for 15 years, and retired in 1962. She was the widow of Nathan Merrill Beck, and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk. Mrs. Beck was a member of the Sons of Italy, Roma Lodge 254. Survivors include a son, N. Merrill Beck Jr., and his wife, Charlotte, of Norfolk; three sisters, Virgie Robertson, of Virginia Beach, Mary Beck, of Norfolk, Antoinette Baxter, of Virginia Beach; a brother, Vincent Contrado, of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Nathan Beck II, Theresa Zacek, Beverly Ouzts, Cecilia Hess and Joseph Beck; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Christ the King Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph P. Lehman. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, tonight at 7 by the Rev. Edward L. Richardson.
