NORFOLK - Martha Elizabeth Goss Beck, 81, died Oct. 16, 1998, in a Chesapeake
hospital. She was born in Lexington, N.C., the daughter of the late Addie Tussey
Goss and Hugh Goss, and was the widow of Norman D. Beck. Mrs. Beck was a member
of Epworth United Methodist Church and attended its Wesleymen Bible Class.

Survivors include a daughter, Virginia C. Abbott of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; two sons,
Tommy J. Beck of Virginia Beach, and Tony D. Beck of Norfolk; three sisters,
Mildred I. Costello of Virginia Beach, Betty Everheart and Norma Jean Goss, both
of Lexington, N.C.; two brothers, Thomas Goss of Ashboro, N.C., and Joe Goss of
Lexington, N.C.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Cox Funeral
Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the
funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday for visitation. Memorial contributions may
be made to the Alzheimer's Association, No. 20 Koger Center, Suite 233, Norfolk,
Va. 23502.
