Beckton, of 974 Goochland Ave., Norfolk, a teacher in Princess Anne County more than 40 years, died Sunday night in a Norfolk hospital after a short illness. A native of Norfolk, she was a daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Clingman Hodges and the widow of Robert Beckton. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and its choir, the Hearts Social Club and Virginia Teachers Association. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Calesta E. Saunders of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Mary H. Williams of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Leonora Amado of Elmhurst, N.Y.; a brother, Virnal C. Hodges of Cleveland; and two grandchildren. The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Service. A funeral service will be conducted in Shiloh Baptist Church Wednesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Richard B. Martin of Grace Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
