Norfolk Virginian Pilot Saturday January 13, 1945
Mrs. Emily Smith Belfield, 75, wife of Alfred L. Belfield and daughter of the late 
Ella D. and Mrs. Anna Pauline Ward Smith, died at a local hospital yesterday 
afternoon at 1:15 o'clock.  Mrs. Belfield was a lifelong resident of this section. 

Besides her husband, Alfred L. Belfield. she is survived by a brother, Lewis R. 
Smith, of Atlanta; two nieces Miss Jean P. Murray and Mrs. Carol W. Powell, and 
four nephews, Hugh Murray, Jr., John T. J. Rollins and Kenton Murray, all of 
Norfolk.  The body will be taken from the residence, 1535 West Ocean View avenue, 
to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, of which Mrs. Belfield was a member, for funeral 
services Monday morning at 11:30 o'clock.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
