NORFOLK (AP) - Alex H. Bell, 83, city treasurer for 17 years and, until his defeat 
at the polls in 1965, one of the city’s best-known officials, died Sunday night in 
Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital in Hampton.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. 
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He served on the Norfolk City Democratic Committee and was a delegate to numerous 
district and state party conventions.
