Ledger-Dispatch July 30, 1946
Alonzo Hall Bell, 56, husband of Mrs. Mary Hughes Bell and son of Mrs. Ella Hall 
Bell and the late Jesse Bell, a native and life-long resident of Norfolk, died 
Sunday at 9 a.m. at a Baltimore hospital.
Besdies his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Marshall and Harry 
Bell, of Richmond, and Howard Bell, of New York City; one brother, Howard R. 
Bell, of Norfolk; four sisters, Miss Eva Bell, Mrs. W. P. Smith and Mrs. W. A. 
Taylor, Jr., of Norfolk, and Mrs. L. P. Louis, of Elizabeth City, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, with the Rev. Emmett Hoy, curate 
of Christ and St. Luke’s Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
