Bell, 1113 Covel street, was given funeral rites recently at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Berkley. Death came on his 82nd birthday. The Rev. R. T. Adams delivered the eulogy. Other speakers were the Revs. Richard B. Martin, W. B. Jones, Spence Terry, Hilton C. Felton and John Allen. The Gospel choir sang, and Mrs. Beatrice Robinson was the organist. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery under direction of Pretlow’s Funeral Home. A native of Greenridge in Norfolk County, Mr. Bell married the former Miss Alexenia Mullen in 1902. They became parents of four girls and three boys. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and served as its organist until 1913, when he joined Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Fentress. In 1918 he came to Norfolk and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was employed by Carpenter and Peachtree, Dock Builders for 30 years and retired in 1941. Surviving are his wife, a son, a daughter, 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, five nieces, four nephews and other relatives.
