                    SONS PALLBEARERS AT MOTHER'S FUNERAL
          Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth Bell Buried In Elmwood Cemetery

Attended by a large number of relatives and friends, the funeral of Mrs. 
Virginia Elizabeth Bell, was held yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the 
residence, 521 Colley Avenue.  The services were conducted by Rev. George W. 
Swope, pastor of Central Baptist Church. The pallbearers were the seven sons 
of the deceased.
Mrs. Bell was the wife of W.S. Bell of the Norfolk fire department.  She 
died suddenly Sunday morning at 11:30 o'clock.  She was 52 years old and had 
been a resident of Norfolk for 33 years.  Besides her husband, she is 
survived by seven sons and one daughter.  The sons are C.R. Bell of New York 
and C.L., A.B., E.G., G.P., E.L. and R.L. Bell of Norfolk and Miss Rhoda 
Bell also of Norfolk.  Her brother Charley Robey and Miss Hattie Robey of 
Washington, attended the funeral.
The floral designs were beautiful and numerous.  Among them was a wreath of 
roses and carnations from the traffic department of the National Commission 
for Relief of Belgium.  C.R. Bell, one of the sons of the deceased, is head 
of this department.
Members of the fire department sent a design representing "Gates Ajar" and 
Massasoit Tribe of Red Men sent a pillow.  The interment took place in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
