String, Woodmont, New Haven, Conn. Mrs. Bell was born in Princess Anne County, February 16, 1854, the daughter of Henry Herbert and Margaret Tatem Herbert. A devoted enthusiast in the work of her church, an honorary member of the Woman’s Club and an active member of the Daughters of the Confederacy, Mrs. Bell embodied all of those traits that so attractively characterize Southern womanhood. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Strange, Mrs. H. Page Hoggard and Mrs. Y.S. Mitchell; one son, Alexander H. Bell; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Laura H. MacAlpine, of Norfolk, and one brother, Capt. Buck Herbert, of Princess Anne County. Mrs. Bell was on a visit to her daughter when death came. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning, the time and place to be announced later.
