Ruth Coleman Bellamy, 85, of the 1000 block of College Park Blvd., died March 
13, 2004, in Sentara Leigh Hospital, Norfolk. A native of Nansemond County, Va., 
she was the widow of Johnnie H. Bellamy and retired as a chef in 1990 after 57 
years of service. Mrs. Bellamy joined New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, in 
1938, was the Food Committee chair, a charter member of D.Y. Campbell Club and a 
member of Senior Citizens Club. She was a member of Daughters of Isis, John 
Barnes Assembly No. 8 LLR, Cyrene PHA Excelsior Chapter Eastern Star No. 82, and 
United Order of Tent No. 1 Elmira Elizabeth. She had her high school education. 

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley B. Hopkins (Lawrence Sr.) and Sara E. 
Curry; a sister, Elizabeth C. Pharr (James); three grandchildren, Deborah R. 
Hopkins, Lawrence L. Hopkins Jr. and Angela Y. Hopkins; and a number of nieces, 
nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great- great-nieces and -nephews. She was 
preceded in death by her parents, Palmetto Skeeter Coleman and Elder James T.C. 
Coleman. 

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. 
Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23504, by Gilbert G. Campbell Jr., D.Min., 
with burial in Calvary Cemetery . A wake will be held Friday at the church from 
7 to 8 p.m. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
