                          DEATH OF RAYMOND BELOTE        

Raymond Belote, a promising youth, whose condition has created considerable 
sympathy in the community, died yesterday afternoon at the residence of his 
parents, 428 Nelson Street, in the 14th year of his age. Young Belote had a 
large circle of friends, who will regret to learn the sad news.

BELOTE - At the residence of his parents, W.S. and F.R. Belote, No. 428 Nelson 
Street, Portsmouth, Va., Thursday, April 4th, 1901, WALTER RAYMOND BELOTE, aged 
14 years, 4 months and 25 days.
Funeral services will take place at the Fourth Street Baptist Church THIS 
(Sunday) AFTERNOON at 2 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully 
invited to attend.

The funeral services of young Raymond Belote took place Sunday afternoon at the 
Fourth Street Baptist Church. The sacred edifice was filled with sorrowing 
relatives and friends of the dead boy, who had entered the 15th year of his age. 
The solemn services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.F. Fisher, assisted by 
Rev. Dr. Barrett, of the Christian Church, Brambleton, at the conclusion of 
which the remains were conveyed to Berkley and interred in Magnolia Cemetery.
There were many beautiful and appropriate floral tributes
The following boys acted as pallbearers: Cleveland Halstead, James Talbot, John 
Snyder, Eddie Culpepper, James Hunt, Willie Lewis George Taylor.
