A native of Norfolk, she was a daughter of Lawrence Bascom and Mrs. Rosa Estelle Clements Tucker and the widow of John Lawrence Bengston. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, first junior queen of Daughters of the Nile, past high priestess of Ladies of the Oriental Shrine of North America, and past worthy matron of Elizabeth Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Nelda Masters, Mrs. Anna Partin, and Mrs. Robert Apperson of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. William W. Meekins of New Bern, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive, by the Rev. A. Paul Wyatt III. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at the residence.
