Mrs. M. H. Bennett, who died in New York City, February 9th, was formerly Miss M
Martha Haines Butt, and was well known to many of our citizen, having spent s
several weeks in Elkton in the summer of 1858. She was born in Virginia in 1834, a
and was the author of two books, “Anti-Fanaticism,” and “Leisure Hours,” neither o
of which found many readers.
