He was a son of James and Mrs. Sarah Bennett and was a native of Suffolk. He had lived in Norfolk 30 years and was owner-operator of Lamberts Point Noodle Shop on Bowdens Ferry road. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Florence Bennett; two daughters, Mrs. Constance Sessoms of Norfolk and Mrs. Rosleyn McFadden of Harford, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jean Lewis of Norfolk; six sisters, Mrs. Ruth Chalk, Mrs. Gulia Simpson and Mrs. Daisy Rice of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Florine Moore of New Bern, N.C., Mrs. Tessie McCloudy of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Mrs. Lessie Hamilton of Suffolk; two brothers, Linwood Bennett and Blackwell Bennett of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. The body was taken to Hale Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. F. Evans, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
