Virginian-Pilot May 5, 1918
Robert Wesley Bensten died yesterday morning at 9:45 o’clock at the residence, 369 
Hamilton avenue, after a month’s illness, at the age of 47 years. He was a native 
of Norfolk and was widely known in the community. He was unmarried and is survived 
by two sisters, Mrs. Eula Virginia Brinkley and Mrs. Marion Leona Walter, both of 
Norfolk. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 4 o’clock at the residence, 
Rev. J. J. Bradford of Colonial Avenue Methodist church, officiating. Burial will 
be in Elmwood.
