Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch September 10, 1924
Funeral services for William H. Benthall, 80 years old, who died yesterday morning 
at 6 o’clock at 1052 Brambleton avenue, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 
o’clock at the funeral apartments of L. L. Williams, 3401 Granby street. Mr. 
Benthall was a native of Princess Anne county and lived in this section all his 
life. He was a veteran of the Confederate army in the War Between the States. 
Surviving him are four daughters, Mrs. A. M. Crump, Mrs. William Penn, Mrs. W. E. 
Walker and Mrs. R. L. Jones, all of Norfolk, and ten grandchildren.
